What Is Hospice?
Hospice is a concept of caring, rather than a specific lo- cation. In medieval times, hospice meant a refuge where weary travelers could find rest and comfort. As we know it today, hospice is where those with a life-threatening illness can spend their final days in peace, dignity, and comfort, surrounded by loved ones.
In hospice care, the emphasis is on palliative care and quality of life. Every effort is made to make the patient as comfortable as possible and fulfill the distinct wishes of the patient and his or her family. There is practical, emotional and spiritual support available for all involved.
Because we’re all about you.
Altus Hospice is absolutely dedicated to those we serve. We view our work as a sacred honor and go to great lengths to provide quality care. Our patient-focused approach hinges on creating a plan of care that is tailored to the patient and their family.
The mission of Altus Hospice is to provide professional care with a personal touch. We accomplish this by focusing on both the patient and their family. We will treat the disease process with medical expertise while emphasizing quality living, not only physically, but also psychosocially, emotionally and spiritually. Comfort, compassion and a calming presence are the gifts we bring to this service, and we are honored to walk with the patient and loved ones through this special time.
